Is internal migration a positive or an adverse event for the integration into the labour market? Does the age at the time of migration matters for the transition to a first job? This paper aims to identify the causal impact of migration on the length of access to a first job, by exploiting specific information in the timing of migration and in labour market access of internal young migrants in Egypt. A non-parametric duration model based on the Abbring and Van den Berg (2003) timing-of-event method enables to take into account selection on observed and unobserved variables.
